Hilo’s Lyman Museum will hold a Manuahi Day on Friday.
Those who haven’t experienced the museum since the fourth-grade — or parents whose keiki haven’t seen it yet — are encouraged to treat their ‘ohana to a free visit to the “Best Museum in East Hawaii.”
The Lyman Museum is the only place in all of Hawaii where visitors can explore both the natural and the cultural history of our islands under one roof.
Volcanoes, island formation, natural habitats, plants and animals, marine and land shells, rock and minerals — they are all to be found in the Earth Heritage Gallery.
And in the new Island Heritage Gallery, visitors can time-travel through the human history of Hawaii, from the settlement of these islands to the present day.
While admission this day is free of charge, space is limited and reservations made through the museum website are required. Time your visit for either 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., or 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., or 2 p.m. to 4 p.m..
